Dungeness Beach

Dungeness Beach is part of Britain’s only desert, a surreal expanse of shingle that sits on the edge of Romney Marsh. This dramatic landscape is punctuated with light houses, wooden boats, timber beach shacks, railway carriage beach homes, an iconic Power Station and many other curiosities. It is a very popular filming and photo shoot location and attracts many visitors who want an alternative beach experience but bathing is not advised.

Dungeness has been designated a National Nature Reserve and offers incredible views over the channel to France. Due to a wealth of wildlife it is a popular spot for bird watching and fishing and nature lovers come from all over the UK to admire its bounty. Beach facilities are sparse but there are toilets, a car park and a pub. Dogs are welcome all year round.
