Luxury Breaks in Cornwall and Devon

Tuesday 5th February 2019

You don’t need to look much further than Devon or Cornwall if you’re looking to indulge in a luxury beach holiday.

In South Devon you’ll find the English Riviera; where the climate is subtropical, the beaches are sandy and there is plenty of five-star entertainment to indulge your senses. In the Riviera alone there are 20 beaches and coves to choose from and there is so much to do and enjoy, gastronomically, culturally and activity-wise.

The most popular coastal towns along this shimmering coastline are Torquay, Paignton and Brixham; each of which have beaches and harbours to explore, lined with chic cafés, fine restaurants and buzzing bars. The Riviera restaurants are the first stop for Devon’s finest local produce including seafood, lamb, venison, pheasant and the catch of the day. That said, if you’d rather eat at home then local farmers’ markets tout delicious artisan produce.

Torquay, with its fluttering palm trees, glamorous sea front, harbour and marina must be one of the most popular coastal resorts for luxury holidays in Devon. Torquay rivals many of the top resorts in Europe with its main beach (Torre Abbey Sands) offering a long stretch of fine white sand lined with boutiques, cafes and seafront restaurants.

Slightly less high-end but still suitable for a luxury break are the two oldest resorts on the English Riviera; Paignton and Brixham. These resorts are best known for their exquisite sandy beaches and top family entertainment. Between them they offer a host of family friendly attractions, namely Paignton Zoo, Splashdown Quaywest water park, pirate ships and some of the best fish restaurants in the area.

If you’re thinking of taking luxury breaks in Cornwall then we recommend you check out St Ives and its neighbour Carbis Bay. St Ives is a picturesque fishing harbour that has become one of Britain’s most trendy art centres not to mention one of its most glamorous family holiday destinations. With its maze of cobbled lanes, arty shops, cool cafes and exquisite restaurants, St Ives has it all.

The gem in Cornwall’s Crown would have to be Carbis Bay. A stunning stretch of sand that sits along the South West coastal path, east of St Ives. Carbis Bay is a wonderful blue flag beach that is backed by a luxury spa hotel offering a beachfront restaurant, café and bar.

Whether you decide to head to Cornwall or Devon, both are well suited to luxury South West breaks for families with children or couples on romantic breaks.
