The region of Carmarthenshire in West Wales sits between Pembrokeshire and the Gower and is famous for some of the most glorious sandy beaches in Europe not to mention its electric green countryside and fabulous cuisine. Well known as a vibrant cultured Welsh hotspot the area attracts visitors to its summer festivals, music events, historical sites and arty shops and galleries. But it is the beaches that assure return visits. Starting with Pendine Sands beach with its scouring cliffs to the west and its endless stretches of flat fine sands to the east. And as proof of its incredibly clean waters you will still find that cockles are seasonally harvested here.
Another great, although occasionally stormy shore, is the wild beach of Cefn Sidan, which is perfect for bracing walks and a spot of fishing. Last but not least is the coastline of the Loughor estuary, which not only offers numerous stunning golden beaches and spectacular wildlife but also some interesting outdoor activities. Many of the best coastal cottages in the UK can be found in Wales, with West Wales being no exception. Browse the self-catering Carmarthenshire holiday cottages by the seafront advertised here, many that offer sea views, are family and child friendly and can be booked direct with the owner or property agent.
