On the cliffside above the beach, Jubilee Gardens is a popular spot for picnics and panoramic sea views; for a different perspective on local life, visit the Beer Quarry Caves, a mile from the village, where you’ll discover huge, cathedral-like caverns. Less than 2 miles east along the coast, Seaton is a great location for fossil hunting and watersports, while 2.5 miles in the opposite direction will take you to the pretty thatched cottages, ancient church and countryside of Branscombe. The beautiful market town of Axminster, famous worldwide for its carpet industry, has a thriving community of artists and creatives and is just over 9 miles away.

Part of a quiet residential development in the centre of Beer, this is ideal for guests who prefer single-storey living – there are two steps down at the entrance, but, once inside, everything is on the ground floor. Together-time is an emphasis in the open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen, where inviting sofas and traditional styling offer plenty of space for four to unwind, eat, drink and enjoy. Two bedrooms each have storage so you can settle in comfortably – one has a double bed, the other has full-size twins – and share use of a modern tiled bathroom. There’s no garden here, but it’s a pleasant, level walk to Beer’s shops, pubs and gardens.
