Fowey waterscape cottage sleeps 4

A fabulous coastal cottage in Fowey that sleeps 4 guests boasting a secret garden with hill top views over the water, which lies metres from Fowey’s vibrant shops, pubs, eateries and galleries. Guests will love this part of the Cornish coast, especially the huge beaches and South West Coast Path. Wander along the to Readymoney Cove, which lies in a sheltered spot overlooking Polruan at the mouth of the Fowey Estuary, with the remains of the 16th-century St Catherine’s Castle standing on the headland above. Get inspired to visit the castle (1.5 miles), built to defend Fowey harbour in the 1530s. Embark on a river cruise or visit Fowey Aquarium, less than 0.5 miles from the property on foot, on the historic quay for a glimpse into local marine life.

Entering the cottage at ground floor level, there is a large open-plan kitchen/diner/living room. It features a dining table and chairs for four, everything you could need to cook a delicious meal and plenty of space to relax – with comfy sofas and a beautiful stone fireplace with a Cornish range (not in use). French doors from the kitchen lead out to a balcony area. A spiral staircase takes you downstairs to the two bedrooms, a king-size room and a double, both with plenty of clothes storage and a shower room with a large walk-in shower. A door in the double room takes you out to a small courtyard.

As you might have guessed, there’s a secret garden. To reach it, you go through a gate across the lane, and up about 20 stone steps. There you’ll find beautiful patio areas with a chalet and garden furniture, a pergola, flowers, vines, fruit trees and spring bulbs. There’s also a pretty balcony with a table and chairs accessed through the kitchen that overlooks rooftops towards the river, the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee.
