This self-catering holiday cottage in Cawsand is only a stone’s throw from the beach. The property is a 17th cent. Grade II listed cottage, its interesting past hinted at by the smugglers’ tunnel cleverly disguised in an under-stair cupboard. Once also the village sweetshop, it nestles alongside sister cottages on a narrow lane behind the square with just occasional vehicles passing. Behind, sheltered by a high wall and with a peek of the sea between rooftops, an enclosed sun-trap paved terrace with decked area (table/chairs). Inside, good-sized rooms and original beams (some low lintels). From the lane, 3 steps up to tiled lobby and bathroom (suite plus bath-shower); stable doors and step up to living/dining room (TV/DVD, wood burner) and cheerful, fully-tiled kitchen area (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, freezer, larder fridge,); rear hall (space for beach gear/walking boots/children’s board games) and shower-room (suite plus bidet). Steep narrow stairs (5’2” beam, rope rail) wind up to the first floor landing (smuggler’s tunnel cupboard; door to garden) and two bedrooms, a double (5’ bed), and a twin. Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. Loading/unloading outside; car park, 175 yards (permit provided). Pub, shop, 50 yards. A welcoming cottage in a friendly seaside village.
