A charming coastal cottage that sleeps 4 in Polruan, overlooking a boat yard, with superb views of the river that separates Fowey from Polruan. There is a ferry from Polruan to Fowey every fifteen minutes, so make sure you pop over there and vitit the many shops, galleries and fabulous eateries. From here, ferries run to the nearby fishing town of Mevagissey, Boddinick and Polruan. Head slightly further afield and visit Polperro and Looe with their rugged coastlines, small beaches and range of independent shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants. In the 18th century, two hundred and fifty years ago, it is recorded there was a tunnel from underneath the stairs of the property to the boatyard below. This was used for smuggling! Part of the brick archway collapsed, and the entrances to the tunnel were filled in some years ago.
Enter this rustic traditional Captains House and step back in time. Harbour View had been home to multiple generations of Master Mariners, and has been thoughtfully and delicately maintained by the current owner with period furnishings. A stay in Harbour View is more than a holiday. It is an occasion. A celebration of Cornish History. The lounge with comfortable sofas, period fire surround and wood burning stove, is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring and enjoy a film on the TV/DVD. Heading into the kitchen/diner which is equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave. Gather around the table with seating for four and enjoy breakfast or an evening meal together. At the end of the day head upstairs to the three bedrooms, there is a choice of a double room with views across the river, a second smaller doubleroom also enjoying river views, and a single with views overlooking the garden. Completing the accommodation is the bathroom with roll top bath, over the bath waterfall shower, and WC.
Outside, there is a rare large private garden with gazebo and harbour views. The garden is a real feature of the property and is perfect haven for wildlife with a secret garden feel in the heart of the village. Guests are able to unload directly outside the property and parking is available nearby car parks (charges apply).
