Porthcurno dog friendly cottage near the beach that sleeps six. If paradise exists, it’s here in Porthcurno! Close to mainland Britain’s most south-westerly point, the village is home to a fine collection of impressive properties and an award-winning beach where the soft white sand is washed by a shimmering turquoise sea. High cliffs on both sides provide shelter for beachgoers, and at the top sits the iconic Minack Theatre, an absolute must-see. There’s history amid the natural beauty too: cables buried beneath the beach here spread across the seabed to connect Britain to the rest of the world – pioneering work that’s celebrated at the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum. Those with a sense of adventure can walk the South West Coast Path to Land’s End, which is less than 4 miles by car; just on the other side of this headland, Sennen Cove is a favourite among the surfing crowd.

Set back from the picturesque valley road, this apartment occupies the ground floor of a substantial period property within walking distance of the beach. At the heart of any home, even on holiday, the kitchen has contemporary cabinets and counters and a beautiful view of the countryside beyond, plus all the essentials required for easy living. Period features such as high ceilings and a bay window blend effortlessly with coastal-inspired furnishings and electric fire to create an oasis of calm in the lounge/diner; there’s space for six to eat, drink and linger around the table, plus shelves full of books and a Smart TV for down-time after a busy day out. When it’s time for bed, choose from three restful rooms.

A feature fireplace, super-king-size bed and French doors leading onto the garden give the first a sanctuary-like air, while the second has a double bed and its own en-suite shower room (please note, there is no door between the shower room and the bedroom). Twin beds in the third bedroom are full-size so would be comfortable for either children or adults and all rooms share access to a newly refurbished bathroom, making this an ideal holiday home for a group of friends or a family to enjoy.

Gorgeous gardens to the front and back of the apartment mean you can choose to sit in sun or shade as the day progresses. There’s pretty planting, a patio, garden furniture, plus a barbeque to make you feel at home and lovely views of the leafy valley beyond. Please note the garden is not dog-proof – it is possible for small dogs to get out under the hedge.
