A stunning coastal cottage in Stiffkey that sleeps 4, near Wells-next-the-Sea. This quirky property is set in the delightful rural village of Stiffkey, just 4 miles from Norfolk’s stunning north coast. Sleeping four guests, the property makes an excellent couples’ retreat or base for a small family, with large social spaces and a choice of seating areas to spend quality time together. As well as the saltmarshes just 0.5 miles away, you’ll also be within easy reach of the long-distance Peddars Way (20 miles) and the Norfolk Coast Path (4 miles). There are some truly stunning beaches nearby, including the family-favourite of Wells-next-the-Sea (4 miles). Here, you’ll find a large, sandy beach, backed by dramatic pinewoods and colourful beach huts. Just 3 miles away is Morston Quay, where you can hop on the ferry to visit England’s largest colony of grey seals at Blakeney Point.
The characterful cottage has been decorated in a contemporary style, to create a chic and inviting holiday home. Modern comforts, such as underfloor heating, have been added to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The cottage does, however, still retain much of its period charm, thanks to exposed beams, a gorgeous inglenook ornamental fireplace, and original bread nook. The large lounge is a lovely place to unwind in the evening, reclining on the comfortable sofas and sharing stories in the glow of the wood burner. At the heart of the home is a vast lounge/kitchen/diner.
The area is bright and airy, thanks to the skylights and French doors leading to outside. Step up to the lounge/diner from the kitchen area and spend time together around the dining table, eating delicious home-cooked food, or curl up on the sofa to watch TV. Heading up the cottage-style stairs to the first floor, you’ll find a king-size and a twin bedroom, both with bi-fold doors leading to en-suite shower rooms. Due to this being a period property, there are low beams, sloping ceilings, and restricted head height in some areas.
Outside, a tucked-away, private garden awaits. The area to the rear of the property is decked, with seating so you can catch a few rays or gather around the table for an al fresco meal. A steep bank surrounds the property, planted with beautiful wildflowers, and a steep alley leads to a small seat and a wildflower meadow.
